Vatican Museum and Sistine Chapel

I was able to pick up a 4-day Rome trip. Great as I was at long last able to see the Sistine Chapel. One must first go through the Vatican Museum which has a multitude of rooms filled with various artifacts and paintings from the various papal eras.

The Sistine Chapel is absolutely incredible. To think that Michalangelo and several other artisits spent years on scaffolding on their backs to paint this breathtaking ceiling is amazing. One is really not supposed to photograph inside the Sistine Chapel as flash can damage the integrity of the frescos and paintings.

Michaelangelo's "Last Judgement"

This is the ceiling from below showing the "Creation" and "Eve Out of Adam's Rib" by Michaelangelo

The photo below is one that is on many posters and postcards of the Sistine Chapel. It is incredible to think that this is the room where the College of Cardinals convey upon a pope's death to elect a new pope.
